Chatbots, also called intelligent virtual agents or smart advisors, are speech and text oriented and use Natural Language Understanding (NLU). Some chatbots have only limited conversation capabilities, following predefined dialogs. Other chatbots, however, are adaptive, as they are based on supervised learning and use learning algorithms to improve their expressions and better understand the user. These chatbots are linked to large knowledge bases and can therefore constantly evolve.
