In September 2017, Matthias joined the SUSI&James crew as project manager. Recently, he has been performing IT administration tasks in addition to his activities as project manager.
"SUSI&James is an opportunity for me to grow in new tasks and overcome challenges as a team."
Matthias is a board game enthusiast and passionate about cooking. At SUSI&James, he is as universal as his hobbies: on the one hand, Matthias works as a project manager, and on the other hand, he supports the IT administration in the allocation or acceptance of work equipment. He is also part of the information and data protection team.
Some time after graduating from high school, Matthias became aware of a job advertisement at SUSI&James. He applied and shortly after joining the company, he gained his first insights into the tasks of a project manager. Over time, Matthias developed a much better understanding of the technology used by SUSI&James.
He became stronger in customer communication through his participation as a project manager and gained experience in this area. Matthias learned to approach customers early and openly to communicate problems or new strategy.
He also developed the ability to recognize in time when a project is going astray and develop an appropriate contingency plan. Occasionally, he realizes some task parts of a project independently. For example, Matthias was exclusively responsible for the front-end development of a project.
"I expect clear and open communication as well as to be challenged and encouraged. I want to be able to grow from challenges."
As project manager, Matthias is involved in customer discussions from the moment a project emerges. He ensures a smooth transition from sales to project management. Matthias picks up on the customer's expectations and supports the preparation of a quotation.
Furthermore, Matthias communicates the requirements needed for the implementation of the project to the customer in a timely manner. For example, some projects require certain data sets or a connection to the intranet.
In the project, he is responsible, among other things, for keeping in regular contact with the customer and informing him about the developments of the project. If necessary, Matthias prepares presentations, charts or other information material for the customer's stakeholders or superiors describing the project and its progress. At the end of a project, we always prepare a final presentation that summarizes the project. Internally, Matthias documents the tasks of a project in our program Jira.
Since organization and planning are also part of his job, Matthias schedules the developers who are to be involved in the project accordingly. At the same time, he organizes the subtasks and assigns them to the developers. On a higher level, he forms a communication point between developers and customers. On the one hand, he drives the development of the project and acts in the interest of the customer to complete the project quickly. On the other hand, he continuously consults with the developers so that any delays or problems can be communicated to the customer in a timely and appropriate manner.
SUSI&James has TISAX certification, which means that it operates according to certain information security standards. Matthias is part of the information and data protection team and regularly reviews the implementation of the guidelines. Furthermore, Matthias is strong in designing new systems. He supervised projects in which a driving report recording was created in dialog with our digital employee SUSI, manufacturing steps were digitized, and numerous other projects on the subject of SUSI availability or invoice automation.
We thank Matthias for the interview and are happy to have him with us!
