Gavin became part of the SUSI&James team in September 2017. As an intern at the time, he stayed with the company for a few weeks and familiarized himself with the tasks of a software developer. For his Bachelor's thesis, he ran a research project in the area of Natural Language Generation and strategies for humanizing voice assistants.

Gavin excels at creativity. Because of his inquisitiveness, he has always felt an urge to understand how things work. He decided to pursue a degree in applied computer science because he was aware of the increasing importance of technology and wanted to look behind the scenes with interest. Especially the contact with different parts of the technology and its various application areas fascinated Gavin since the beginning.
In this context, abstract thinking and exploring ideas excite him. During his studies, Gavin started an internship at SUSI&James. Following his graduation from Heidelberg, Gavin dedicated himself to music. In September 2018, he started a degree in Pop Music Design at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. As before, Gavin is employed by us as a working student.

Even at his first job interview, Gavin sensed the familiar atmosphere and the relaxed interaction among the employees. Immediately after starting, he was given his first tasks, some of which he carried out independently. Gavin worked closely with the management team and together they continued to develop the theme of "AI with heart". He transformed the vision of making the Digital Employee SUSI as human as possible into initial prototypes.
This resulted in some components that are still used today on our EVA technology platform and are used in customer projects. In addition to a proof-of-concept, Gavin developed prototypes that were used for customer presentations. For Gavin, what has been most remarkable is being able to watch and experience the evolution and growth of our company. Our diverse team, which includes seniority within the company, gives young professionals like Gavin the opportunity to learn and benefit from the expertise and knowledge of more experienced employees. Gavin finds tremendous enrichment in the opportunity to apply the theory he learned at university to practical applications at SUSI&James.
He is particularly attracted by working on versatile topics at SUSI&James. He already supported the team in many customer projects with different fields of application. He helped with the development of a new product. Gavin realized the prototype of an app for managing finances, where he was involved in the project management as well as partially supported actively as a full-stack developer. The B2C product includes unique features based on artificial intelligence and the digital assistant SUSI.
